Zappar CEO (Caspar Thykier) talks to Marc Powell from the RNIB and our brand partners at Unilever Sarah Masters and Mark Hewitt, about the recent launch of Accessible QR codes for product packaging and why they are an important step for brands in making products accessible to everyone, everywhere whatever their visual acuity as a basic human right.
Download our latest guide ‘The new age of connected packaging for everyone, everywhere: Introducing Accessible QR codes’ which covers the three mega trends that have brought AQR about and what you should do next if you’re a brand manager or business selling products to consumers to take advantage of this new reality.
Fact: An Accessible QR code is made up of a standard QR code and a series of dots and dashes set round one corner and two sides of a QR. This simple patent-pending addition unlocks the ability for this one machine readable code to be scanned as normal by your phone's camera, Google lens or QR scanner of your choice to reach the brands chosen website. But it also houses the ability for existing apps serving the blind and partially sighted community featuring our royalty free SDK called Zapvision to recognise these same codes on pack from greater distances and most importantly use the accessibility features on the device for VoiceOver assistance, larger fonts, contrast settings etc. Meaning blind and partially sighted people can use Accessible QR codes on packaging to access all the product information they need both in store and at home.
